2016 california nonprofit of the year award

Weekend Backpack Program

For many children the only meals they get are provided through the free breakfast and lunch programs at their schools. Children deemed the most at-risk by their school administrators and teachers  go home on Fridays with a backpack filled with nutritional food to get them, and in some cases, their siblings, through the weekend.

Recent developments in the county have escalated the demand for this program. While curently serving Elemenetary schools, the IVFB has expanded this program to Junior and Senior High Schools. The progam comes at a cost of $180 per student, per school year. If this program speaks to you and you wish to contribute, please consider the Adopt-a-Child program. At a monthly cost of $20 (nine months) you can make a real difference in an Imperial County child's life.
